Alternating Your Workouts for Faster Results

By e-mDot

Creating a workout routine is easier than most people think. All it takes is determination combined with putting together your favorite exercise routines. If getting faster results is what you are looking for, I have the perfect idea to help you shed the pounds. Did you know that combining cardio with immediate weight training after it, helps to burn fat longer during the day? It also helps to strengthen muscles and build endurance.

I typically run 30-45 minutes every other day, followed up by a two-body part weight exercise. It will keep your metabolism burning during the whole day, which equals fat loss.

Even alternating your cardio workouts will give your metabolism a boost. By running for ten minutes then switching to fast walking for ten minutes can help you lose weight faster. Do this for about 30 minutes every other day for fast results. There are other benefits to alternating your cardio, or variable cyclic training for your health. Mike Geary, a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition specialist points out the benefits on his website.

In it he writes, “Studies have shown that variable cyclic training can increase anti-oxidant production in the body and an anti-inflammatory response, as well as increase metabolic rate. Doing cyclic training has proven to be better for you than steady running on a treadmill or other endurance exercises. It will also strengthen the heart muscle, and help it to deal with the daily stresses of life.”

In addition, switching back and forth from the treadmill to the elliptical will have the same benefits. The whole idea is to keep your workout exciting with the least amount of impact as possible. Running for an hour and a half can damage your joints and reduce your immune function. The stop and go technique reduces the amount of time needed to get the same results. Alternating your workout also prevents your muscles from adapting to the same routine, thereby helping to continue the fat loss progression.

In conclusion, always remember to switch up your exercises to continue to make gains, while keeping your workouts exciting. Never forget to alternate your workouts for faster results!
